Yen Binh district announced and received the certificate of registration of the trademark “Dai Minh Grapefruit”

YBP – On December 19th 2016, Yen Binh district People’s Committee held a ceremony to announce and receive received the certificate of registration of the trademark “Dai Minh Grapefruit”.

The representative of National office of Intellectual Property of Vietnam awarded the certificate of the trademark “Dai Minh grapefruit” to Yen Binh district

Dai Minh grapefruit (Yen Binh district) is a native grapefruit and has long history of cultivation in Dai Minh commune. Now, in Kha Linh village (Dai Minh commune) there are some 200-year-old grapefruit trees. Dai Minh grapefruits are planted in 26 communes and town of Yen Binh district (mainly in Dai Minh commune) with a total area of 350 hectares. The annual output reaches over 7,000 tons, providing income for people about 80 billion VND. That helps people increase their income and get rich.

With the goal of building Dai Minh Grapefruit to become a prestigious brand in the market creating favorable conditions for organizations and individuals to trade in Dai Minh grapefruit, and improving economic efficiency  in the agricultural, forestry production in Yen Binh district, since September 2015, Yen Binh district People's Committee has combined with Department of Science and Technology, Thai Nguyen University of Agriculture, and Forestry and scientists  researching  on citrus to build the project: “Establishing and managing the registration of the trademark “Dai Minh grapefruit””

After more than a year of effort, Yen Binh district was awarded the certificate of the registration of  trademark “Dai Minh grapefruit”. This is an important basis for Yen Binh district to manage the quality better and increase the competitiveness in the market, which contributes to improve the value of the products and income for the farmers.

At the ceremony, the representative of  National office of Intellectual Property of Vietnam adopted the Decision and awarded the certificate of  the trademark “Dai Minh grapefruit” to Yen Binh district and awarded the certificate to the speciality co-operative Dai Minh grapefruit and 11 households planting grapefruit in Dai Minh commune.

Speaking at the ceremony, Mr. Nguyen Van Khanh - Vice chairman of Yen Bai provincial people’s committee stressed: The trademark “Dai Minh grapefruit” has been registered for protection, but it is just the beginning. In order to manage, exploit and develop the trademark “Dai Minh  grapefruit” effectively in the future, Mr. Nguyen Van Khanh suggested Department of Science and Technology, Department of Agriculture and Rural Development, relevant departments of the province and Yen Binh district to coordinate closely to organize and implement well the contents of the  approved project “Development of the citrus in the district”;  Strengthen the management, inspection, strict control to the quality of the products of  Dai Minh grapefruit; Promote research, application and transfer of technological advances in order to maintain, sustain and grow Dai Minh grapefruit  towards the sustainable quality and efficiency; Direct individuals, farmers awarded the trademark to comply strictly with the provisions on the use of the trademark;  Strengthen to guide and popularize to people in the district how to plant, tend and harvest to ensure compliance with the technical process to improve productivity, quality to products Dai Minh Grapefruit.

On behalf of Yen Binh leaders, Nguyen Minh Toan - Secretary of the district Party Committee said: This is a great honor and an important beginning to build the brand “Dai Minh grapefruit” in particular and agricultural products, aquatic products and specialities of Yen Binh district in general, at the same time affirm the  position, image, value of agricultural products of the district in the market.

Yen Binh party committee, government and people will have responsibilities for using and preserving the trademark to get the trust from consumers.
