The process of formation and development
From the early years of the twentieth century, Dong Tam hamlet in Phuc An commune of Yen Binh district was famous for shrimp - trap weaving. In recent years, with the attention of the province, levels, industries and the increasing demand of the market, shrimp - trap weaving in Dong Tam hamlet is growing in accordance with the guidelines of the Party and State on economic development and poverty reduction.
Phuc An commune has many households weaving shrimp – trap concentrated in hamlets. Of which Dong Tam hamlet has the first households to do weaving and now also has the most number of households to do weaving in the commune. There are 86 households in Dong Tam with 315 inhabitants, with 83% of households to do shrimp – trap weaving (72 households /86 households). Businesses, households in the commune always take the initiative in building material investment plans, developing markets to find out the market to sell products and as a result, many households achieve high turnover. Specifically, in 2016, the annual production of knit garment reached 1.4 million units for sales of 5,189 million VND, accounting for 57% of the total revenue of the hamlet, contributing greatly to the local poverty reduction.
The hamlet's shrimp - traps are mainly woven from bamboo, neohouzeaua, etc., which are harvested from the forest and purchased from neighboring communes. Shrimp - trap here is popular with many consumers because of its good quality, big, durable, beautiful traps, little moss, shrimp is easy to come in but dificult to leave.
Recently, due to the convenient transportation system, the products of the hamlet are consumed in many neighboring provinces, the price of the product increases, the income of people is steady. The main markets are Yen Bai, Son La, Lai Chau, Hoa Binh and Tuyen Quang. The average selling price is from 3,500 to 5,000 VND/unit. Products are consumed throughout the year, primarily in the water drainage season.
The construction of handicraft villages is very necessary and proper, because it has promoted economic development in rural areas, contributing to raising productivity and product quality, integrating the market and step by step reducing poverty, proceeding to enrich the family and the society.
Orientations for building, maintaining and developing the handicraft village in the coming years
It must be confirmed that shrimp - trap weaving in Dong Tam hamlet is a high value-added, high-value-earning production, contributing significantly to the local socio-economic development, making full use of the labor force, worthy of the role of poverty reduction, playing an important role in building a new countryside. After Dong Tam hamlet was recognized as the handicraft village, Phuc An commune set out the direction in the following years to maintain and develop the handicraft village, improve models and improve product quality with the goal of constructing the local shrimp - trap weaving trades in and outside the province. Along with that, build the handicraft village infrastructure to create beautiful scenery, clean environment, improve the living standard of the laborers and building a craft village as well as a cultural village; At the same time, set up professional associations, or clubs, cooperatives, cooperative groups of professionals to share experiences, honor the skilled people and households; To propagate and encourage households to study and apply new techniques and science and technology to production in order to increase productivity and product quality, develop brand names and bring products to closer consumers.
Recognizing the trade village of Dong Tam village is not only recognizing, honoring and affirming the trade mark of handicraft villages, but also contributing to preserve and preserve and develop the traditional craft with its own identity of Yen Binh district, creating the premise for the local tourism development.

Route 2: From the center of Yen Bai city (Km 5) getting to Nguyen Tat Thanh road to Km 12 (T-junction between Nguyen Tat Thanh road and High way 70); going on Highway 70 Yen Bai - Hanoi to Km 14, turning left to Hoang Thi road to Han Da commune, turning left to highway 37 in the direction to Thac Ba town to Thac Ong bridge, going ahead the provincial way 170 (Vinh Kien - Yen The) about 20 to Phuc An T - junction, turning left about 300m to the gate of Dong Tam cultural village (the gate to the handicraft village).
2. By water
