YBP - In the afternoon of May 11th, under the chairmanship of Mr. Nguyen Van Khanh - Vice Chairman of Provincial People's Committee, Yen Bai provincial People's Committee had a working session with the delegation of the Institute of Technology and Education Development on the cooperation on technology transfer of traceability of agricultural products and natural disaster prevention.
The overview of the meeting
At the working session, the Vice Chairman of the provincial People's Committee Nguyen Van Khanh briefly informed about the situation of natural disasters in the province in the past time. In particular, in 2017, Yen Bai province had 53 dead and missing people, 33 injured people, nearly 3,250 damaged houses, over 500 destroyed infrastructure works ... Total damage value was estimated about VND 1,855 billion.
The province has implemented many measures to prevent and overcome the consequences of natural disasters, but due to the impact of global climate change, the situation of natural disasters in the province is increasingly complicated, especially the phenomenon of floods. landslides, flash floods occur frequently.
Yen Bai province as well as many provinces in the region lack information on monitoring, forecasting and early warning of natural disasters; the application of science and technology in natural disaster prevention and control is still limited; lack safe land and resources to organize migration in areas affected by natural disasters, especially in highland areas and specially difficul areas, ethnic minorities; lack resources for investment, repairing damaged socio-economic infrastructure.
Yen Bai province also informed the status and possibilities for cooperation in applying transparent traceability technology, building organic branding and market promotion with GPS-based control to three key products of Yen Bai province including citrus in Van Chan district, tea and vegetables.

To help Yen Bai province in the application of science and technology in disaster prevention and traceability to agricultural products, the Institute of Technology and Education Development introduced the application of iMetos intelligent weather technology in agriculture and disaster prevention with full provision of weather data, environmental warning, forecasting and warning of floods and landslides; Introducing new-generation organic farming technology JOSELI in preventing pests for plants, preserving agricultural products, protecting the environment; technology to trace product history with smart QR code; developing high-tech production areas, promoting agricultural markets based on transparent control trust.
Speaking at the meeting, Mr. Nguyen Van Khanh expected the two sides to cooperate long- term in disaster prevention and traceability of agricultural products. He suggested the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development based on the actual situation of the locality to select suitable cooperative schemes; coordinate with the Institute of Technology and Education Development to consider and select a number of suitable cooperatives to implement the organic farming model; consider and plan a workshop on traceability of origin of agricultural products in order to raise the value of products in the direction of sustainable development.
