YBP - In the afternoon of September 5, the delegation of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs led by Ambassador Pham Sanh Chau - Assistant Minister of Foreign Affairs and representatives of foreign embassies and international organizations in Hanoi had a working session with the People's Committee of Yen Bai province. The delegation was accompanied by Do Duc Duy - Chairman of Yen Bai provincial People's Committee.
At the meeting, Mr. Do Duc Duy, Chairman of the provincial People's Committee expressed his joy and thanks to the delegation from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and representatives of foreign embassies and international organizations in Hanoi for visiting and paying attention to supporting the construction of school and class facilities in Yen Bai province. This is a meaningful gift to encourage teachers and students and Yen Bai education sector to emulate good teaching, learning.
Mr. Do Duc Duy also gave brief information about the socio-economic development of the province, especially for the development of education in the province in recent years. He emphasized: Despite being a poor province, Yen Bai has invested in the development of education and training and considered as one of the three breakthroughs of the province.
On the scale of the school network, the whole province has 454 educational and vocational institutions; of which, the pre-school and general education system has 435 schools, 6,611 classes with over 205,890 students ... The province maintains the results of universal education and eradicating illiteracy level 1 reaching 100%; national school construction reaches 169/423 schools, accountin for 39.2%. The province is also interested in investing in upland education, ethnic minority areas, ethnic boarding schools; mobilizes all resources to invest in the construction of material facilities, solidify schools and classrooms.
Besides the results, Yen Bai province still faces many difficulties, so the chairman of the provincial People's Committee wished international organizations, diplomatic agencies to pay attention to lobbying international donors to support for investment in facilities, teaching equipment, medical examination and treatment, training of staff in education and health, especially at the grassgroots level in the coming time. At the same time, the province is committed to using the right sources of funding, the right beneficiaries and achieving high efficiency.
Speaking at the meeting, Ambassador Pham Sanh Chau - Assistant Minister of Foreign Affairs thanked the warm welcome of the Yen Bai province for the delegation. With the initiative to open food festivals to build charity funds, the money contributed to the construction of classrooms for kindergartens in Binh Thuan Pre-school, the amount of which has been promoted effectively despite contributions not much.
It also shows the efforts of diplomats and grassroots cadres to strive for poverty alleviation and pay special attention to the care of children and the preservation of cultural values. He said the challenge for the world and for Vietnam is poverty alleviation, child rights, gender equality and climate change, which will need more efforts in the future.
For proposals from Yen Bai Province, the delegation from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs will acknowledge and expect that embassies and diplomats will continue to seek opportunities to promote charity and share experiences in hunger eradication and poverty reduction, training staffs in education and health.
Ambassador Pham Sanh Chau hoped that Yen Bai province would promote more and more the potentials of land and mineral resources and trade and tourism services, especially the national scenery Mu Cang Chai terraces to attract more domestic and international visitors in the near future.
