Clearly identifying this strength, Nghia Lo has focused on exploiting and developing tourism in a sustainable manner, associated with the preservation and development of cultural identity with visits and experiences in the cultural space of Thai and Muong ethnic people; at the same time, combining with eco-tourism - relaxation, cultural – historical - spiritual tourism. The town has preserved and developed Xoe Thai into an art, symbolizing Muong Lo - Nghia Lo land.
In 2013, the town set a record of "Vietnam's largest ancient xoe ring" with the participation of 2013 artists. In 2015, it was recognized as a national intangible cultural heritage. In 2017, “Han Khuong” festival of Thai people was recognized by the Ministry of Culture - Sports and Tourism as a national intangible cultural heritage.
Along with that, the town encourages communes and wards to regularly organize special festivals, including the January full moon festival, focusing on Han Khuong festival in January and February of the annual calendar; Tet Xip Xi took place in August; the week of Culture - Tourism in Muong Lo in September - October every year, attracting thousands of visitors.
In addition, the town is also focusing on developing tourism to visit monuments and spiritual sites with scenic spots, historical and cultural relics of regional and national scale.

In 2014, Nghia Lo town implemented the project "Building community tourism model associated with poverty reduction and new rural construction in Nghia Loi commune" and "Community tourism model in agricultural - rural area in Nghia An village ”.
After 5 years of implementation, the models have achieved high efficiency. Currently, Nghia Lo town has more than 20 households doing community tourism with nearly 500 accommodations, contributing to the State budget of 13.7 billion VND, creating jobs for hundreds of workers with stable average income, from 2.5 to 7 million VND/month.
Investing in infrastructure, connecting tourism
With the attention of the province and the central government, the road system connecting with the localities is being invested to upgrade, especially upgrading national highway 37 and 32 connecting Yen Bai with Nghia Lo. Recently, the Government has approved the policy of building a road connecting Nghia Lo with Noi Bai - Lao Cai Expressway at IC14 - Van Yen with the length of about 60 km long.
In addition, the town has linked localities in the province to form tourist routes, such as Nghia Lo - Mu Cang Chai to build a tour to visit the national scenic spots, terraced fields, Khau Pha pass ...; Nghia Lo - Van Chan to visit Suoi Giang tea - Heritage tree; Nghia Lo -Van Yen to learn Dao’s culture, Que festival, Dong Cuong temple; at the same time, to expand the links provinces in the Northwestern to build tourist routes associated with famous tourist spots such as Sa Pa, Dien Bien Phu ...
The system of hotels, restaurants and relics in the area has been invested in construction, renovation and upgrading. Currently, the whole town has 108 restaurants, 27 hotels and motels with 314 hotels. room; 15 households with effective community tourism. In 2018, the town welcomed and served 35,000 tourists, of which more than 3,500 international visitors, an increase of 8% over the same period in 2017.
