VGP - National Assembly Chairwoman Nguyen Thi Kim Ngan hosted Japanese and Cuban Ambassadors to Viet Nam Hiroshi Fukada and Herminio Lopez Diaz in Ha Noi on June 8.
Meeting with the Japanese Ambassador, the NA Chairwoman hoped that Japan would continue to provide Official Development Assistance to Viet Nam and pledged that the Vietnamese NA would closely monitor the use of ODA capital to ensure its efficient use.
The top legislator expressed interest in reports that the Japanese parliament is going to approve a law on receiving more technical trainees, noting her wish that the Ambassador will work to put Viet Nam in the list of priority partners of Japan in this field.
For his part, Ambassador Fukada congratulated Ngan as the first female Chairwoman of the Vietnamese National Assembly.
He said Japanese PM Shinzo Abe has announced an urgent aid worth US$2.5 million for Viet Nam to deal with drought and salinity intrusion through the construction of infrastructure such as sea dykes and reservoirs.
Japan will continue to provide Viet Nam with ODA and assistance in human resource training, he added.
According to the Ambassador, following the Senate elections in Japan in July, the Japanese parliament will send many delegations to Viet Nam to promote parliamentary cooperation and exchange.
The same day, NA Chairwoman Nguyen Thi Kim Ngan spoke highly of the contributions of Cuban Ambassador Herminio Lopez Diaz to the friendship and cooperation between the two countries and the two parliaments.
The top legislator showed her delight at strong developments in the Viet Nam-Cuba comprehensive cooperation.
According to the host leader, Cuba continues revising its economic model and Viet Nam is pushing ahead with the reform and comprehensive international integration, the two countries will have more opportunities to strengthen cooperation in economics, trade and investment.
The Cuban Ambassador informed the host leader about a series of development orientations for the country until 2030 at the Cuban Communist Party’s 7th Congress in April.
The guest expressed his belief that the two countries’ solidarity and comprehensive cooperation will be strengthened in the coming time, alongside the implementation of socio-economic development tasks in each country.
He also pledged to do his utmost to cement and deepen the bilateral ties./.
