People wear masks and clean hands with an alcohol-based hand rub or wash them with soap and water to avoid covid-19.

On March 31, PM Phuc signed a directive rolling out urgent measures to contain the COVID-19 pandemic. Under the directive, Viet Nam will go into nationwide social distancing within 15 days, starting from April 1 in order to limit the spread of COVID-19 that has showed no signs of abating. "The principle is that each family isolates itself from other families, one village from other villages, one commune from other communes, one province from other provinces," the directive said. Only factories, businesses and service establishments producing and providing essential goods and services are allowed to open and asked to ensure workers follow strict health guidelines. This includes ensuring they wear face masks, keep a safe distance from each other and make sure areas are properly disinfected and sterilised. All people are ordered to stay at home and only go out in case of emergencies, buying food or medicine, or going to work at factories and essential services that are not closed down or halt operations. If leaving the house, people are to keep a minimum distance of two metres from others. Any gathering of more than two people in public outside of offices, schools and hospitals is prohibited.

Amidst the complex developments of the COVID-19 pandemic, the Chairman of the People’s Committee of Yen Bai province issued Document No. 832, asking local departments, agencies, steering board for COVID-19 prevention and control in Yen Bai city, districts and towns, organisations, enterprises, and production and business facilities in the locality to take urgent measures against the epidemic.

The province has ordered the serious observance of social distancing rules within 15 days as from 0:00 on April 1. On the first day of social distancing, local residents, socio-political organisations, enterprises and production and business facilities in the province seriously followed the instructions.
