As the district with the largest tea area in the province, Van Chan district has 4,490 hectares of tea, concentrated most in Lien Son Farm town and 5 communes outside the district. Thanks to proper care, the tea output reaches 10-12 tons/ha/year.
From the beginning of the year until now, the people of communes in the district have collected 22,800 tons of fresh tea buds, processed over 5,300 tons of dried tea. In May, the district collected 8,000 tons of fresh bud tea.
For lowland tea, the average selling price ranges from 3,000 to 3,200 VND/kg; the price of Shan tea cuttings ranges from 6,500 to 7,500 VND/kg; the price of old Shan tea ranges from 25,000 to 30,000 VND/kg.
To achieve the target of harvesting 46,500 tons this year, localities in the district direct people to actively fertilize and harvest with correct techniques, not to abuse the use of plant protection drugs; continue planting and renovating, replacing old tea areas with new teas; innovate processing technology, improve the quality and competitiveness of products in the market.
