“Chu la” means terraced worshipping ceremony which is an important traditional ritual performed by Mong people in Mu Cang Chai district, in Yen Bai province.

The worshiping ceremnomy with many unique rituals has been passed down among severals generations in Mong people’s lives.
The local people perform ceremony when a new crop begins.
The primary purpose of the terraced field worshipping ceremony is to provide an opportunity for residents to express their gratitude to heaven, earth, the gods, and their ancestors for protecting them ahead of the new crop.
The ritual is performed on one day on June (Moon Calendar) . In the picture: The man plants the "Lau" tree with rooster feathers on are plugged on the bank of terraced field to hope that rice on terraced field will develep well.
People prepare one rooster, one bottle of wine, along with other offerings.
Locals invite the gods to receive their offerings in the hope that they will help families enjoy a good crop.
The the worship finishes, a new crop begins.
