YBP - On December 27, the Ministry of Transport coordinated with the People's Committee of Lai Chau province to hold the ground-breaking ceremony of the traffic connection project in the three northern mountainous provinces.

The scale of the Project includes two routes: Route 1, connecting Lai Chau with Hanoi - Lao Cai expressway with a route length of about 147km of grade III mountainous road; route 2, connecting Nghia Lo (Yen Bai) with the Hanoi - Lao Cai expressway with a route length of about 53km of grade IV mountainous road.
After the completion of the Transport Connection Project in the Northern mountainous provinces, the journey from Lai Chau, Lao Cai and Yen Bai to Hanoi will be shortened, contributing to reducing freight and passenger costs; strengthening linkages among provinces, regions, creating driving force for socio-economic development, and enhancing regional defense and security assurance.
This is a project invested by ODA loans of the Asian Development Bank (ADB), the Australian Government and the reciprocal capital of the Vietnamese Government with a total investment of VND5,339 billion, equivalent to USD 235,328 million.
