Currently, Tran Yen district is developing 4 organic specialty products including: Medicinal plants, highland specialty black chicken, Lam Thuong fat duck and organic cinnamon. The area of medicinal plants is 135.7 hectares, of which, the area of Folium Ardisiae is 110 hectares mainly in Cuong Thinh, Minh Quan, Hoa Cuong and Bao Dap communes. Highland specialty black chicken products are raised in 4 communes: Minh Quan, Hung Thinh, Hong Ca and Kien Thanh with the number of 5,600 chickens. Lam Thuong fat duck are raised in 4 communes: Van Hoi, Viet Hong, Viet Cuong, Hong Ca, with the number of 8,500 ducks. The area of the safe organic cinnamon zone is 9,000 hectares; the cinnamon area certified domestically and internationally is 2,203 hectares.
In order to continue to expand the scale of organic specialty products, Tran Yen district is focusing on propagating and mobilizing people to convert inefficient farming areas to fruit trees and some effective crops with economic efficiency, environmental protection; strengthening coordination with related departments, branches and agencies in reviewing and granting VietGAP certification, organic products, food safety certification for enterprises and cooperatives; integrating investment capital sources, supporting businesses and cooperatives to build production development models linked to value chains associated with organic production.
