YBP - The National Office of Intellectual Property issued Decision No.5345/QD-SHTT on the granting of Geographical Indication Registration Certificate No.00121 “Van Chan” for orange products. The People's Committee of Van Chan district is the organization managing this Geographical Indication.
The history of orange cultivation in Van Chan dates back to about 1990. Tran Phu Farm Town was the first place to grow oranges in Van Chan district and later developed throughout the neighboring communes. In order to meet the needs and tastes of consumers, from the first Sanh orange variety planted in Van Chan, Van Chan orange producer has diversified early ripening, late ripening, long harvesting seasons to serve the needs of the market. Up to now, Sanh oranges, Duong oranges, CS1 oranges and V2 oranges have been grown in Van Chan district, Yen Bai province.
Van Chan orange growing area is located at an average altitude of 400m above sea level. In addition to topographical conditions, the specific properties and quality of Van Chan oranges are also due to climatic conditions, soil conditions and the caring hands of farmers in the geographical area. Geographical area includes Cat Thinh Commune, Tan Thinh Commune, Dai Lich Commune, Chan Thinh Commune, Binh Thuan Commune, Thuong Bang La Commune, Nghia Tam Commune, Minh An Commune, Son Thinh Town, and Tran Phu Farm Town in Van Chan district, Yen Bai province.
