On December 15th, 2022 the Delegation of Irish Embassy lead by Mr. Conor Finn - Deputy Ambassador, Embassy of Ireland in Vietnam paid a courtesy visit to leaders of Yen Bai province People's Committee. Mr. Ngo Hanh Phuc - Vice Chairman of Yen Bai Provincial People's Committee had a working session with the delegation.
At the meeting, Mr. Ngo Hanh Phuc - Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee welcomed the delegation to visit Yen Bai province and attended the workshop the project "Agriculture adapting to climate change and sustainable environment".
Mr. Phuc introduced to the delegation about the potential and strength of Yen Bai province in the development of industry, services, agriculture and forestry. He also introduced to the delegation about the mechanism and policies of the province in developing agirculture adapting to climate change and environmental sustainability. Mr. Phuc wished that in the coming time Yen Bai province will continue to receive the attention and cooperation of the Irish Embassy in attracting investment in Yen Bai province; He also hoped the Irish Embassy introduced Yen Bai province to foreign investors.
Thanking the warm welcome of the leaders of Yen Bai province, Mr. Conor Finn expressed his excitement when the project "Agriculture adapting to climate change and sustainable environment" has brought positive effects to the people. The Deputy Embassy of Ireland also hoped that in the coming time, Irish businesses would have many opportunities to cooperate with localities in Vietnam, contributing to consolidating and deepening the friendship between the two countries Vietnam and Ireland.
Within the framework of the visit and working session in Yen Bai province, the delegation of the Embassy of Ireland will attend the workshop in summarizing the project "Agriculture adapting to climate change and sustainable environment" organized by the Ambassador. The project has been sponsored by Irish Restaurants.
With the goal of promoting research and education cooperation on climate change-adaptive agriculture and environmental sustainability, the Project has been implemented in some areas in Yen Bai province from the beginning of 2019 to December 2022.
After 2 years of implementation, the project has built 10 models with the participation of 186 households, in 10 different locations in 3 ecological sub-regions distributed in Yen Bai province. The Project helped to increase the income of farmers on the same agricultural production unit, improve the health of poultry flocks, accelerate the growth rate, significantly reduce the mortality rate due to diseases and add organic fertilizers for home gardens, reduce environmental pollution in residential areas. Along with that, people's awareness of the impacts of climate change at the construction sites of "Nong Thuan Thien Village" has been significantly increased.
