On September 24, Yen Bai province held a ceremony to inaugurate Gioi Phien Bridge - the eighth bridge across the Red River in the province and the fifth bridge in its eponymous capital city.
The 518-metre-long and 20.5-metre-wide bridge was completed after nearly two years of construction and costs 650 billion VND.
Gioi Phien Bridge is located between Tuan Quan Bridge and Van Phu Bridge, both spanning the Red River.
Gioi Phien Bridge is particularly important to the province as it is expected to help bolster the province’s socio-economic development.
The leader of the province spoke highly of the efforts of contractors, engineers and workers as they completed the bridge nearly three months ahead of schedule.
On the occasion, the provincial authorities presented certificates of merit to those with excellent performance during the bridge construction and gifts to 15 households who gave their land for the project.
