YBP - Currently, in Van Yen district, over 55,000 hectares of cinnamon are planted, of which the concentrated area of cinnamon is over 30,000 hectares. The area of organic cinnamon certified by European and American standards reaches over 7,000 hectares; it is estimated that by the end of 2023, the total area of organic cinnamon certified by European and American standards will reach over 15,000 hectares.
The whole district has 19 cinnamon products certified as 3-star OCOP products; one 4-star OCOP product and is developing one 5-star OCOP product from cinnamon. Currently, there are 2 points introducing the province's OCOP products in the district, many of which are cinnamon products; there are 212 establishments and households producing and trading cinnamon seedlings; over 200 establishments purchasing and processing cinnamon bark products; 21 establishments produce and distil cinnamon essential oil.
Annually the district supplies nearly 50 million cinnamon seedlings to localities; collects over 6,000 tons of dried cinnamon bark; supplies over 65,500 tons of cinnamon leaves to establishments distilling cinnamon essential oil; the cinnamon wood output reaches over 60,000 cubic meters; essential oil output reaches over 300 tons; the total value of attain products in 2023 is estimated to reach over VND 600 billion. In addition, the district focuses on processing high value-added attain bark products.
