Speaking at the meeting, Mr. Tran Huy Tuan - Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee welcomed the delegation to work in Yen Bai province.

In Yen Bai province, from 2018 - 2020, there were 3 programs and projects funded by the European Union in the fields of industry and health with a total investment of 157 billion VND.

There were also some projects, non - projects sponsored by European Union members as well as non-governmental organizations of countries that are members of the European Union. Yen Bai province has effectively used resources to develop urban areas and infrastructure, develop health care-education, protect environmental resources and solve social problems.

Based on the potential, strengths and current status of agricultural and forestry production development, Yen Bai province ordered that the European Union and European investors and businesses to cooperate with Yen Bai province to bring province's agricultural products such as wood, cinnamon, tea, and bamboo shoots to international markets. Yenbai province also ordered EU to support the province in  high-tech investment in production, processing, and consumption linked to the value chain of medicinal plants in Yen Bai province.

Thanking the leaders of Yen Bai province for the warm welcome to the delegation, Mr. Julien Guerrier - Ambassador, Head of the European Union Delegation in Vietnam said that Yen Bai was the first locality he came when he came to work at in Vietnam. He hoped that the relationship between the province and the European Union Delegation to Vietnam will achieve many good results.

Mr. Julien Guerrier commited to promoting funding sources for Yen Bai province in the future and acting as a bridge for investors in the European Union to find first cooperation opportunities in Yen Bai province.

At the meeting, Yen Bai province and the European Union Delegation discussed about cooperation between the two sides in the fields of investment in urban wastewater treatment projects in some localities of the country, rural development projects, climate change adaptation and green growth projects. The European Union aids Yen Bai province in implementing environmental protection projects and improving skills for vocational education in the context of digital and green transformation,

Within the framework of the business trip to Yen Bai province, the European Union Delegation to Vietnam will attend the Launching Workshop of the project "Youth in preventing cyber risks in the city". Yen Bai and Luc Yen district" funded by the European Union.
