On November 20, a delegation from the Swiss Embassy in Vietnam, led by Mr. Thomas Gass, the Swiss Ambassador to Vietnam, paid a courtesy visit to Mr. Tran Huy Tuan, Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee and Chairman of the Yen Bai Provincial People's Committee, on the occasion of their visit and working session in Yen Bai Province.

At the working session, Mr. Tran Huy Tuan provided the Swiss Embassy delegation with a brief overview of the province's socio-economic development and the damage caused by the recent Typhoon No. 3.
Mr. Tran Huy Tuan emphasized that Yen Bai Province has received international aid from various organizations to help mitigate the impacts of natural disasters, including support from the Swiss Embassy in Vietnam. He expressed that the Swiss government's timely and effective assistance, particularly in emergency relief and direct cash support and tchnical experts, has aligned well with the province's needs and circumstances, contributing to the rapid recovery from the disaster and stabilizing the lives and livelihoods of local residents.
He expressed a desire for continued medium- and long-term support from the Swiss Embassy for Yen Bai Province to recover from Typhoon Yagi, assuring that the province will use the aid for the intended purposes and beneficiaries.
In thanking the leaders of Yen Bai Province for their warm welcome, Ambassador Thomas Gass expressed his sympathy for the difficulties and losses faced by the people of Yen Bai. He commended the province's leadership in addressing the aftermath of Typhoon No.3 and noted that the process of receiving and distributing aid from the Swiss government to flood-affected residents has been prompt and effective.
Ambassador Gass hoped that through this visit, both sides could exchange and share experiences in managing aid reception and disaster relief, risk management regarding natural disasters, recovery efforts, and resettlement planning for those affected by natural disasters and landslide risks. He also highlighted the importance of social welfare policies and support for residents to recover agricultural and forestry production after the storm.
He reaffirmed that Swiss organizations will continue to accompany and support Yen Bai Province in overcoming the consequences of natural disasters and work together to address climate change in the future.
