YBP - In 2025, Tran Yen District will continue to maintain and develop specialized raw material areas with key products and specialties linked to value chains. Specifically, the district aims to plant 100 hectares of new mulberry and renovate 50 hectares, raising the total mulberry area in the district to over 1,100 hectares, with a silkworm cocoon output of 1,800 tons.
To achieve this goal, specialized departments have advised the District People's Committee to adjust the land use planning for mulberry cultivation and silkworm farming, creating concentrated mulberry planting areas. They will select high-yield, high-output mulberry varieties for planting and enhance the quality of silkworm rearing, especially focusing on concentrated rearing of young silkworms to maximize efficiency.
The district has also directed specialized departments to implement support measures for units and enterprises to enhance the effectiveness of the value chain in mulberry cultivation, silkworm farming, cocoon processing, and silk reeling. This includes establishing links between cooperatives in mulberry planting and silkworm rearing, providing quality silkworm eggs, purchasing cocoons, sharing experiences with households and localities new to the mulberry-silkworm value chain program, and increasing technical support for cooperatives and mulberry farmers to improve cocoon yield and quality.
Additionally, the role of Yen Bai Mulberry and Silkworm Joint Stock Company will be further promoted to ensure stable cocoon purchasing prices, with staff assigned to directly guide the harvesting of cocoons to meet factory requirements, and to ensure timely and full payment for cocoon sales to the community.
Up to now, the district has planted over 72 hectares, achieving 72.8% of the plan. Localities with a high area of new planting include Tan Dong, Bao Dap, Y Can, Quy Mong, Minh Quan, and Thanh Thinh.
