In line with the 2025 Yen Bai Province Project to Eradicate Temporary and Dilapidated Housing and in response to the nationwide emulation movement “joining Hands to Eliminate Temporary and Dilapidated Housing in 2025,” the Steering Committee for Housing Support in Mu Cang Chai District has launched a plan to eliminate 771 temporary and dilapidated houses in 2025.
Under the plan, support will be provided for 8 households with meritorious services to the revolution (7 newly built, 1 repaired), 706 poor households (584 newly built, 122 repaired), and 57 near-poor households (32 newly built, 25 repaired). The total budget for the initiative is 41.82 billion VND, sourced from the central government budget, local government funds, and other legal sources.
As of now, construction has begun on 577 out of the planned 771 houses, including 474 new constructions and 103 repairs, with 74 houses already completed. Mu Cang Chai currently leads Yen Bai province in the rapid progress of constructing and repairing homes for poor, near-poor households, and people with meritorious services.
To ensure the successful implementation of the plan, local Party committees and authorities will enhance their leadership roles and hold key officials accountable for reviewing and identifying eligible beneficiaries, mobilizing and efficiently utilizing resources. A detailed roadmap will be developed to ensure the complete elimination of temporary and dilapidated housing in the district.
The management and use of financial resources will be conducted transparently, efficiently, and in compliance with legal regulations, ensuring proper allocation without duplication or waste. Oversight will be strengthened through inspections, monitoring, and evaluations of the housing support program for poor and near-poor households. The district aims to complete 100% of the planned housing improvements for people with meritorious services, poor, and near-poor households by June 2025.
This initiative will help alleviate hardships, stabilize and improve living conditions, and address housing shortages for local residents. The program also contributes to sustainable poverty reduction and serves as a meaningful achievement in celebration of the anniversary of the provincial Party Committee’s founding and the upcoming Party Congress at all levels.
