Lying beside the romantic and imposing Nhi stream, Ban Hoc village in Son Thinh commune (Van Chan district) has a harmonious natural landscape, is a land of “xoe” dances and “khắp”, “then” songs. Thai people in Ban Hoc not only have a unique culture but also are given the abundant hot mineral spring water, which is a condition for people and local authority to promote their advantages and organize community-based tourism activities.
Bringing into full play the available potentials and advantages, in recent years, the households in Ban Hoc have paid much attention to investing, embellishing the campus and building and buying some essential items for tourists to visit and stay at their home. Up to now, the village has 6 households participating in community-based tourism services.
Coming to Ban Hoc, visitors will explore the unique culture in the life of local residents through the unique cuisine and the cultural exchange with people here. Especially, visitors will have a relaxing break, take a bath in hot springs and enjoy the unique features in the life of the Thai people, rest in a spacious stilt houses with clean blanket and mattress by Thai people.
With the aim of building the village of Ban Hoc into a community-based tourism of ancient Thai village, in the past years, Son Thinh commune has propagated and mobilized people to donate 2,000m2 of land and trees for rural roads. At the same time calling for investment sources to concrete 1,500m inter-village roads. In addition, the local authority has mobilized the people to make traditional stilt houses to keep the culture of the Thai people, regularly clean the house, to keep environmental sanitation, to build a clean, pretty campus; pay attention to communication and cultural behavior. All of which will make community-based tourism develop in the right direction and sustainability. With a consistent viewpoint is the development of tourism associated with preserving indigenous cultural identity and ensuring security and environmental protection, Son Thinh commune has implemented many activities to create positive changes in cognitive of the people and enhance the position, role and effectiveness of tourism, creating a sustainable tourism development.
Currently, the locality has been actively supplementing and reviewing the planning of Ban Hoc village to develop tourism, focusing on community-based tourism, hot springs and promoting tourism to call for investment capital to soon form community-based tourism area of the ancient Thai village.
