YBP - Located in the historical vestiges of Yen Bai city, Tuan Quan Temple was famous for a sanctuary, ancient temple with many historical evidence of value. Located on the bank of the Red River, Tuan Quan temple is not only known for its rituals and prayers, but also as one of the indispensable destinations in the journey of visitors.
Tuan Quan Temple is in Yen Ninh Ward, Yen Bai City, Yen Bai Province. The temple dated from the Le Trung Hung period, the beginning of the 15th century. The temple worships Lieu Hanh Mother, in addition, the temple is worshiping Tran Quoc Tuan, who helped the king to fight the invaders. Before the 19th century, people called it "Tuan Quan shrine". From the late 19th century until now, the official temple is called "Tuan Quan Temple".
Situated on the bank of the Red River, Tuan Quan temple is not only known for its rituals and prayers, but also as one of the indispensable destinations in the journey of visitors. According to the ancient, the temple belonged to Bach Lam, Tran Yen district, Hung Hoa province, now in Yen Ninh ward, Yen Bai city. With the time, with the ups and downs of history, through the war, the temple was destroyed many times, there seemed to be no remnants.
To preserve and promote the religious values of the nation, in 1992, the temple was officially rebuilt spacious. In 2005, the temple was recognized as a historical and cultural relicby the People's Committee of Yen Bai province. The temple has become a place of religious activities of people inside and outside the province. It is a place to keep many historical relics of cultural value in the Vietnamese community.
Every year to pay tribute, gratitude and commemoration of the work of Lieu Hanh Mother (the highest god in Tuan Quan Temple) on March 3 lunar month, the Temple festival is held (Mother’s Day) to commemorate the work of Lieu Hanh Mother, who helped the people to clear the fields, build and defend the country. After the main ceremony, the temple also organized folk games such as chess, wrestling, pulling, making “bánh dày”, singing chèo, ... to re-present life, traditional cultural values in founding and defending the country. There is also another festival called Father's Banquet held on August 20th lunar year.
On February 4, 2005, the People's Committee of Yen Bai Province issued Decision 41/QD-UBND, recognizing the temple as a provincial historical and cultural vestige.
