The objective of the mission to Yen Bai this time is to collect information for the first preliminary assessment of infrastructure development for irrigation and road subprojects; monitoring activities in the first quarter in 2018 on extension activities (planting, basic gaps, participatory irrigation management) and social activities (disseminating health care manual for mothers and children and prevention of trafficking); Last technical guidance for all areas.

At the meeting, Mr. Yuichi Fukasaka highly appreciated Yen Bai's efforts in implementing the project in the past time and wished to disseminate this preliminary results to the participating provinces. After this visit, the JICA technical assistance team will conduct a comprehensive evaluation of the results, incorporating the results of all three areas (extension, social and infrastructure component of roads and irrigation) as a basis for future formal evaluation when the project is approved.

Speaking at the meeting, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Nguyen Chien Thang thanked the cooperation and assistance of JICA for Yen Bai province in recent years. In the coming time, Yen Bai province will continue to carry out the work to achieve higher efficiency in the areas in which focusing on agricultural extension and social activities; At the same time, quality materials will be prepared for the workshop of the project in Hanoi on May 16. Yen Bai province expected to continue receiving JICA's attention and assistance in the coming time to contribute to the socio-economic development of the locality.
