On the night of the 9th and the early morning of February 10, 1930, an armed uprising broke out in Yen Bai, organized and led by the Vietnamese Nationalist Party, to overthrow the French colonial government to build an independent Vietnam under the republican regime, opening the door to a series of riots against the French in many parts of our country. The uprising was led by Nguyen Thai Hoc - the leader of Vietnam Nationalist Party. Yen Bai uprising had a profound effect on the national liberation movement throughout the country and throughout Indochina.

Starting with the motto: "If becoming successful is not possible then becoming a decent person shall be good enough", due to many reasons, the uprising failed, the patriotic of Vietnamese Nationalist Party were wanted and executed. Nguyen Thai Hoc and his colleagues were captured by the French invaders and executed on May 8 and June 17, 1930. Before the moment of sacrifice on the blade of the enemy's guillotine, Nguyen Thai Hoc and his colleagues chanted the slogan: "Vietnam, Vietnam ten thousand years!".

Despite the failure, the sacrifices of insurgents in the Yen Bai uprising have become a beautiful symbol of revolutionary heroism, adding to the history of the battle against foreign invaders of our people and the pride of the people of all ethnic groups in Yen Bai province.

Since the Yen Bai uprising, the proletarian revolutionary movement of our people had been constantly promoted; The spirit of fighting and brave sacrifices of Vietnamese nationalists party members encouraged the patriotism and the will of hatred of our people against foreign invaders and minions, contributing to creating a new revolutionary climax in our country under the leadership of the Communist Party of Vietnam to gain the national independence, culminating in the August 1945 general uprising.

Appreciating the historical significance of the uprising and the spirit of fighting of Nguyen Thai Hoc and his colleagues, the Ministry of Culture and Information (now the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism) recognized the Tomb of Nguyen Thai Hoc and the soldiers who died in the Yen Bai uprising as a national- historical monument under Decision No. 177 of March 5, 1990.

Promoting the tradition of "Remembering the source" and commemorating and honoring the merits of patriot Nguyen Thai Hoc and the soldiers who died in the Yen Bai uprising, in recent years, Yen Bai province and city have rehabilitated and embellished many times the national historical relic of Nguyen Thai Hoc and soldiers tomb. By 2017, the province decided to invest in renovation and expanding the complex of relics with a number of important items such as memorial houses, permanent houses, garden items, grave areas, monuments, and the green campus ... with a harmonious and modern line structure that reflects the nuances of spiritual life, and depicts the brave spirit of patriotism of the insurgents attached with Yen Hoa park, forming a deep and attractive tourist, cultural, historical complex.

Speaking at the ceremony, Mr. Do Duc Duy - Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee affirmed: The 89th anniversary of the Yen Bai uprising is an opportunity to review an important event in the struggle movement against the French colonialists to gain independence and freedom of our people 89 years ago. With the endless gratitude for the noble sacrifice of the predecessors for the national liberation, the Party Committee, authorities, armed forces and people of all ethnic groups in Yen Bai province have constantly promoting the high level of the glorious revolutionary tradition, making efforts to emulate and build Yen Bai's homeland to become richer and more beautiful and developed.

On behalf of the provincial leaders, Mr. Do Duc Duy, Chairman of the provincial People's Committee recognized and praised the Party Committee, authorities and people of Yen Bai city for always respecting, preserving and taking good care of the relics in recent years; praised the efforts of the investor and the construction units to overcome difficulties, speeding up the progress for the project to be inaugurated and put into use on the 89th anniversary of the Yen Bai Uprising.
He also hoped that the Party Committee, authorities and people of Yen Bai city would do well in managing, preserving and promoting the historical, cultural and tourist values ​​of the tomb relic area of Nguyen Thai Hoc and soldiers sacrificed in Yen Bai uprising effectively and practically.

On the occasion of preparing to welcome the traditional Lunar New Year of the nation, Mr. Do Duc Duy - Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee sent the new year greetings to the people of all ethnic groups and officials, ministries, party members, businessmen and armed forces in the province.

Immediately after the celebration is the epic art program with the theme "Yen Bai uprising - Immortal Song" recreating the image of a country of extreme misery under the domination of French colonialists and henchmen through chapter I - "Long night of slavery".
