In 2018, the total value of industrial and handicraft production reached VND 837 billion, up 4% compared to 2017, contributing to creating jobs for over 5.000 employees and promoting the development of other economic sectors.

Industry - small industry and handicraft production in the district is evaluated to have a rather good and right development step with an average annual growth of 19.5%, in which non-state industry fastly develop with average growth of nearly 30%; In 2019,  Van Yen has issued target of reaching VND 871 billion in the industrial-handicraft production value and in 2020 will reach VND 1,000 billion

The district has many specific solutions to speed up industry-small industry and handicraft development right from the beginning of the year. First of all, the district has issued many preferential mechanisms, concentrating resources to build industrial parks, industrial clusters, tourism-trade centers in areas with advantages and close to raw materials, associated with environmental protection, natural preservation and sustainable development of material areas; mobilizing the local resources; raising the efficiency of international cooperation, inter-provincial, inter-regional and inter-branch cooperation.

Van Yen also has paid attention to invite and create conditions to attract businesses to invest in the area to process agricultural and forestry products into goods, increase the value of sales in the domestic and foreign markets; use available raw materials and abundant local labor resources; focus on developing a number of agricultural and forest products; exploit and process minerals and construction materials…

In the process of industrial and handicraft, trade and service development, the district has paid special attention to the connection in the production, processing and consumption of goods.

Enterprises and facilities have used synchronous, modern equipment, new technology; the labor force has been basically trained and have strong skills. Therefore, products have high quality and competitiveness in the market.

With the proposed solutions, industrial and handicraft production in Van Yen district will have positive changes, increasing in both quantity and quality; especially, strongly shifting from small production into goods production which contributing to increasing budget revenue, accelerating the process of agricultural and rural industrialization and modernization in the locality.
