At the meeting, on behalf of Yen Bai leaders, Mr. Duong Van Tien - Vice Chairman of the provincial People's Committee respectfully welcomed and thanked Mr. Ly Ma Lam - Deputy Governor of Yunnan province and the delegation for paying a working visit to Yen Bai province. He emphasized that the year 2019 is the year to marke an important milestone in the friendship and cooperation between the two provinces of Yen Bai - Yunnan with many effective practical cooperation activities. Especially, the implementation of the "Light Journey" in 2020 will be implemented at Yen Bai General Hospital. This is an activity marking the first cooperation step between the two provinces in the field of health, which will provide free lens replacement surgery for 50 to 100 patients in Yen Bai province, with the participation of experts and leading doctors specialized in ophthalmology of Yunnan province and the professional support and equipment of Yen Bai General Hospital. In order to carry out the "Light Journey" activity effectively, Mr. Duong Van Tien suggested Yunnan province to send experts and doctors with good and experienced expertise to Yen Bai province to perform and be responsible for surgical expenses, tests, supplies and medical equipment used in surgery.

Mr. Tien said that Yen Bai province will be responsible for arranging adequate equipment and paying for accommodation, travel expenses of the medical team of Yunnan during the time to implement activities in the province. He assigned the Department of Health and the Department of Foreign Affairs to coordinate with relevant agencies and units of Yunnan province to prepare necessary conditions to carry out the "Light Journey" activity. He also expressed his desire that in addition to the "Light Journey" in the coming time, the two provinces will continue to have cooperation and exchange in other fields such as cardiovascular, convalescence, and rehabilitation, traditional medicine ... in order to improve the capacity of the medical staff in Yen Bai province, to meet the increasing healthcare needs of the people, while strengthening solidarity and friendship between Vietnam and China.

Speaking at the meeting, Ms. Ly Ma Lam - Deputy Governor of Yunnan Province (China) thanked the warm welcome of Yen Bai province to the delegation. She said that through this visit, the delegation of Yunnan wants to promote the medical cooperation between Yunnan and the provinces of Vietnam in the "Light Journey”. The two provinces have implemented many cooperative activities in areas such as staff training, health care, education, etc. Yunnan will always cooperate within the framework of the Kunming-China economic corridor. In 2020, the two countries Vietnam - China will establish 70-year diplomatic relations and comprehensive cooperation will reach a new level and the two provinces will continue to have more cooperative relations. She hoped that in 2020, the activity "Light Journey" will be implemented effectively; contributing to improving professional qualifications for medical teams of the two provinces. Ms. Ly Ma Lam also proposed that Yen Bai Province create the best conditions for the two sides to carry out the activity "Light Journey".
