The report quoted at the Workshop by Mr. Nguyen Van Trong - Chairman of Yen Binh District People's Committee stated: Yen Binh district has Thac Ba lake area with an area of ​​15,900 ha which is a favorable condition for fisheries development. Over the past time, the district has always paid attention to comprehensive development of aquatic products from farming, exploitation and protection. Annual seafood value increases by 20% on average, accounting for 20% of the agricultural structure. The whole district has 20 communes and towns assigned to manage the water surface of Thac Ba lake and has 2 enterprises, 5 cooperatives and over 300 households raising cages for fish and net fish; on Thac Ba lake there are 1,850 fish cages and over 230 hectares of water surface area to raise fish nets. Seafood production in 2019 is estimated at 10,500 tons. In October 2019, Thac Ba fish product was certified by the National Office of Intellectual Property as "Thac Ba Lake fish".

Speaking at the Workshop, Mr. Nguyen Van Khanh, Vice Chairman of the provincial People's Committee, affirmed that: Yen Bai province has many potential strengths to develop agriculture, forestry and fisheries. Every year, the province spends over VND 50 billion to implement projects in the field of agriculture and forestry production. However, the production of people is still small, fragmented, and the quality of goods is not high. Therefore, in order to improve the added value and income for the people, there should be a link between scientists, farmers and enterprises in the issue of product underwriting.

He hoped that after this Workshop, Yen Binh district would synthesize and apply good practices, propose solutions to the development of Thac Ba fisheries products in the direction of increasing added value to increase income for people, but having to stabilize the ecological environment.

At the workshop, the delegates exchanged to clarify the current situation of fisheries development in Thac Ba lake; the application of scientific and technical advances in aquaculture; farming area planning. At the same time, many opinions from managers and scientists have been heard, thereby clarifying scientific and practical arguments on the development of Thac Ba aquatic key product series in a stable direction, enhance added value and protect the ecological environment.

The workshop on developing the value chain of the key product "Thac Ba Lake Fisheries" will open opportunities for exchange and cooperation in investment and development of hi-tech application production, looking for cooperation and upgrading opportunities for brand range of Thac Ba lakes. From there, enhance the value of products and support the creation of sustainable links in production - processing - consumption activities.
