YBP - Van Chan district is currently the province with the largest tea area in Yen Bai province with a total area of nearly 4,500 hectares. Defining tea as a strong crop, in recent years, local people have actively taken care of, collected, produced and preserved to improve value, increase income, and stabilize life.
The people of Thac 3 town, Son Thinh town collected fresh bud tea
In the first 7 months of 2021, Van Chan district has collected over 25,000 tons of fresh bud tea, an increase of nearly 700 tons over the same period. The reason for the increase in production is due to favorable weather at the beginning of this year's crop, early rain along with the people's active care and proper harvesting techniques. With the average selling price of 3 - 4 thousand VND/kg for lowland tea area, 6 - 8 thousand VND/kg for upland shan tea, which has brought tens of billions of VND in income for tea growers.
In order to improve the value of tea, Van Chan district is actively mobilizing people to invest in care and apply production processes according to VietGAP standards, focusing on improving the quality of fresh bud tea products to provide to tea processing facilities in the area; at the same time, supporting businesses and cooperatives in training techniques for planting, caring for and producing tea products as well as supporting loans to boost production and business. The district also mobilized people and businesses to maintain raw material areas, improve product quality and expand markets.
Van Chan district strives to produce more than 46 thousand tons of fresh bud tea in 2021, contributing to improving people's income.
