YBP – In the afternoon of November 15th, delegation assessing the project results of GIZ (Federal Republic of Germany) led by Mrs. Gabriele Gahn worked with Yen Bai provincial People’s Committee to assess the technical component of the project “Strengthening the capacity of the provincial health system”.
Overview of the working session
Welcoming and working with the delegation was Mr Duong Van Tien, Vice Chairman of the provincial People’s Committee; Officials of the provincial People’s Committee Office; the leader of Department of Health.
Within the framework of medical development cooperation between the Government of Federation Republic of Germany and the Government of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam, Yen Bai is one of five provinces selected by the Ministry of Health to carry out the project “Strengthening the capacity of the provincial health system”.
The project has been carried out from 2009 to 2017 and divided into two phases. The phase I was carried out from March 2009 to February 2013; the phase II has been from January 3rd, 2013 to February 2017. The project has been carried out in 5 units, including: Nghia Lo hospital, Van Chan Medical Center, Van Yen Medical Center, Luc Yen Medical Center and Yen Binh Medical Center.
The main activities of the project are training to improve the capacity of speciality, managing, planning, maintainng equipment … for the units carrying out the project; supporting to build the sofware system for hospital management; supporting to build long-term plan for the health sector; supporting to improve the quality of the hospital …. All the units carrying out the project have used the funded medical equipments effectively.
In the phase II, GIZ project supports Yen Bai province to implement to screen cervical cancer in Van Yen and Luc Yen districts.
On behalf of Yen Bai’s leaders, Mr. Duong Van Tien, Vice Chairman of the provincial People’s Committee expressed the gratitude to the delegation for visiting and working with Yen Bai province. He said that the German Government had helped Yen Bai province improve the quality of the services of the Health Sector. Currently, the German Government, KFW, GIZ have been continuing to support Yen Bai to implement the health cooperation program in the phase II.
In the future, Yen Bai province wishes to receive the help and care from the German Reconstruction Bank and GIZ organization to accelerate the implementation of the activities of the project in order to improve the quality of medical treatment and people’s health care in the province.
Mrs Gabriele Gahn also wishes Yen Bai province to continue to coordinate with the delegation to implement cooperation programs effectively in the near future.
