The negative impact of the 4th Covid-19 epidemic caused exports to drop sharply in the third quarter. However, since October, production activities have started to recover, creating momentum for exports to increase again. By the end of November 2021, the total import and export turnover of the country reached over USD 600 billion, up nearly 23% over the same period; nearly 30 commodity groups with export turnover of over USD1 billion, an increase of 4 groups compared to 2020; export structure shifts towards increasing the proportion of processed industrial products; groups of agricultural, forestry and fishery products have steadily decreased over the years; group of mineral fuel products with limited supply decreased sharply. Export markets are maintained and expanded.
In Yen Bai, in 2021, the province's export enterprises maintain production and business activities. It is estimated that for the whole year, the total export value of the province will reach USD 226.2 million, 3% higher than the assigned plan, equivalent to USD 6.2 million compared to the plan.
At the Vietnam Export Promotion Forum in 2021, there were two main discussions.
In 2022, the epidemic situation in the world and Vietnam is still very complicated and unpredictable, but the positive signal is that major markets such as the US, EU... have reopened; especially when the Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership (RCEP) comes into effect from the beginning of next year, it will continue to create favorable momentum for exports. Therefore, in order to take advantage of opportunities from the recovery of the export market after the COVID-19 epidemic, the Ministry of Industry and Trade will coordinate with ministries and local agencies to continue assessing reality, amending and supplementing mechanisms and policies, orienting trade promotion activities; focus on medium and long-term trade promotion programs for a number of key export industries in each period; promote information and promotion activities about the export potential of products with national brands; implement programs to improve trade promotion capacity for the Vietnamese business community, etc.
The Vietnam Export Promotion Forum is an annual activity chaired by the Ministry of Industry and Trade and coordinated with relevant ministries and sectors to create a forum for exchange between the export promotion coordination agency and the export promotion agencies subjects participating in export activities; as a channel for policy dialogue, facilitating export promotion activities; identifying opportunities and prospects for Vietnamese exports, contributing to improving the competitiveness of export products and the proactive ability of enterprises in export activities.
