Mr. Nguyen Van Khanh - Vice Chairman of the provincial People’s Committee presided over the working session

The project “Rural development is based on the results” of the international Cooperation Agency of Japan (JICA) has been implemented in 6 provinces in the northern mountainous region, including Lao Cai, Lai Chau, Yen Bai, Son la, Dien Bien and Ha Giang.

After having implemented for 4 months, Yen Bai province built 16 models of agriculture extension  about intensive cultivation of pure rice, maize, soybean in Van Yen, Luc Yen, Yen Binh districts. In infrastructure development, the provincial People’s Committee selected 18 sub - projects in irrigation, transport… Currently, 2 sub - projects has been selected to implement in the phase I in Van Yen and Van Chan districts. For social activities, the province has planned and organized propaganda about preventing crime of  human trafficking, health care for mothers and children...

At the meeting, Yen Bai province and the delegation decided to divide into 3 groups to discuss the social work, agriculture extension, infrastructure and will take a field trip to models of agriculture extension and selected sub – projects in Van Yen, Van Chan, Luc Yen.

Implementing the project “Rural development is based on the results” aims to grow economy and  improve system of sustainable agricultural production  by upgrading basic infrastructure system   for agricultural production and support the knowledge for activities of  agriculture extension, which  contributes to implement project “Restructuring the agricultural sector” through strengthening the institutional capacity of the sector, innovating the methods of sustainable cultivation and raising the value chain for some key crops.
