In the early hours of September 16, amid heavy rain, at Noi Bai International Airport in Hanoi, Mr. Tran Huy Tuan, Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of Yen Bai Provincial People's Committee, received emergency aid supplies from Samaritan’s Purse and the Swiss Government for localities affected by Storm No. 3 (YAGI) in 2024, through Vietnam Disaster and Dyke Management Authority of the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development. Mr. Thomas Gass, the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Swiss Confederation in Vietnam also welcomed the aid flight.
Immediately after landing at Noi Bai International Airport at 4:30 AM, all aid supplies from Samaritan's Purse and the Swiss Government for localities affected by Storm No. 3 were promptly transported to support residents in the flood-affected provinces of Yen Bai, Lao Cai, and Cao Bang.
The donors included Samaritan's Purse, which provided new, unused items, including 3,000 foldable solar-powered LED flashlights, 3,000 water filters, 3,000 clean water storage containers, 3,000 sets of kitchen utensils, and 6,000 plastic containers, with a total value of over 103,000 USD.
The Swiss Government also donated new, unused items, including 300 family tents, 5 multifunctional tents, 5 tent covers, 800 cooking kits, 19,800 10-liter containers, 2 modular water distribution systems, 2 water filters, 2 water disinfection systems, 5 well water filtration systems, and 2 power supply systems, with a total value exceeding 361,000 CHF.
Mr. Tran Huy Tuan, Chairman of Yen Bai Provincial People's Committee expressed sincere gratitude to the Swiss Embassy in Vietnam and Swiss relief experts for their care and special attention to the provinces affected by storms and floods in Vietnam, including Yen Bai Province. He also stated that after receiving the supplies, the People's Committees of Yen Bai, Lao Cai, and Cao Bang would be responsible for transporting and distributing the emergency aid supplies, ensuring they reaches the intended recipients transparently and in accordance with regulations.
