Model of Solar Power Project on Thac Ba lake.

With the aim of enhancing investment cooperation with foreign partners to exploit the potentials and strengths of Yen Bai province in inviting investors. Yen Bai province and South Korea are promoting investment in building a solar power project on Thac Ba lake, Yen Binh district.

This is new project which is in line with the Party's and State's views on the diversified development of energy sources for sustainable energy development.

Solar Power Project has been deployed on the basis of integrating energy sources such as wind, solar, water. The new project’s effectiveness is considered to be two times higher than that of conventional solutions. The new project will ensure clean water and not affect aquaculture. It also helps to serve tourism, creat jobs for local labours and have good impact on the socio-economic development in the province.

Mr. Do Young Woo - President of Solkiss Co., Ltd said: "After visiting Yen Bai and Thac Ba lake, we find that we can combine Solar Power Project with developing tourism that retains the scenery, clean water environment. After working with leaders of Yen Bai province, the company presented the idea to invest in the project of solar power on Thac Ba lake. The expected capacity of the plant  is 500 MW with the total investment of 25,000 VND billion. Our company will request Korean Government to create all conditions for implementing the project in Yen Bai. We also pledge to do our best to successfully deploy”.

Recently, Ministry of Industry and Trade has agreed to implement the Solar Power  on Thac Ba lake in Yen Bai province.  Ministry of Industry and Trade said that the project is accordance with the development orientation of the Government of Vietnam. Therefore, The Ministry suggested Yen Bai province to assign tasks to relevant departments in coordination with Ministry of Industry and Trade to assist investors in the process of preparation procedures  and implement the project in accordance with regulations.

Besides, the Ministry of Industry and Trade assigned the General Department of Energy helps to guild Yen Bai and investors to add The project into the national electricity development planning.

Mr. Do Duc Duy – Chairman of Yen Bai PPC affirmed that  “This is a project with modern technology, useful efficiency and friendly with the environment. Therefore, Yen Bai province proposed to the Government and other ministries and agencies to give Yen Bai specific mechanism for the project. Vietnam Government is government is very interested in developing renewable energy sources and there are many incentives for the development of solar power projects in Vietnam.

Recently, Yen Bai has ensured good security and social safety to create favorable conditions for investors operating in the province.

Chairman of the provincial People's Committee also affirmed that Yen Bai has strived to satisfy investors. He also pledged to accompany with investors in the process of business investment and committed to create the most favorable conditions for Solkiss Co., Ltd. to implement the investment procedures as soon as possible.

In order to implement the project, Yen Bai province will establish Group led by the Director of the Department of Planning and Investment as the head. The group will coordinate with the Ministry of Industry and Commerce to complete all the administrative procedures; the Department of Natural Resources and Environment coordinates with Yen Binh district to help Solkiss Co., Ltd to take survey on Thac Ba lake to evaluate the impact on the project.

Solar Power Project on Thac Ba Lake will promote social and economic development of Yen Bai province. The project  will also create jobs for local labours and solve social welfare as well as promote Vietnam – Korean relationship.
