Located in Minh Quan commune, Tran Yen district, more than 10km from the south of Yen Bai city, Dam Hau lake (called lake of 99 ramifications) is an artificial lake formed by the result of damming up to build the irrigation systems for irrigation of 142ha rice in 7 hamlets in Minh Quan commune in 1958.

Not only supplying water for irrigation, but Lake Dam Hau offers a large fishery source with a variety of fish such as carp, dory, amur, tilapia, bass… and algaes, seaweed. In addition to fishing in the lake, people in the commune also raise fish cages.
Coming to Dam Hau lake, tourists can row the boat into the corners, large and small islands or the center of the lake to commune with naturre and feel the fresh air. Climbing up the dam, looking around the lake, tourists will see a green color of the tree islands. They can find a place for fishing, helping them feel comfortable. After exploring around the lake, beside the fish just caught, visitors can buy more fish by the people to process delicious food.
Having the large surface, stabilization of the water level in all 4 seasons of the year, and a favorable location located less than one kilometer from the National Highway 32, Dam Hau lake with dozens of large and small islands such as floating on the water, has become a picnic spot in the holidays of people loving nature and exploring. Particularly, the lake is conveniently located adjacent to the Noi Bai - Lao Cai expressway, the intersection from the expressway to Highway 70 is also located in this area. Dam Hau lake will be an ideal stopover and a place to take visitors through Van Phu Bridge to Yen Bai City. Also from here visitors can visit the Van War Zone, a historical relic base located in the three communes of Viet Hong, Viet Cuong, Van Hoi of Tran Yen district.
With these favorable conditions, on June 2, 2014, the People's Committee of Yen Bai province issued a Decision approving the planning project for construction of Dam Hau lake eco-tourism area in Minh Quan commune, Tran Yen district. Accordingly, the location and planning area locates in Ngon Ngoi and Duc Quan hamlet of Minh Quan commune. The planning area with a total research area of 280 hectares is an ecological resort combined with golf course. Functional subdivision and planning space organization based on the conditions of location, topography, landscape environment of ecological tourism area are divided into three main functional areas, including: golf course, landscape forest, and resort.
