Implementing the Project of supporting the development of aquaculture, from 2016 to now, Yen Bai province has invested over 9.4 billion VND to support the development of aquaculture. In particular, one-time support for cage-building establishments with the level of 10 million VND/cage; One-time support for fish farms by lining nets in the corners of water surface area of ​​1.0 ha and more at 20. Thousand VND per m2; Supporting  the fish seed to add fish in Thac Ba Lake and other large reservoirs; Providing funds for purchase of drugs for aquatic disease prevention; Supporting ineffective field  to change into new fish ponds at VND 50 million / ha. With these policies, there has been a great impact, the fishery has been invested by cooperatives, individuals and households to expand and diversify cultured species with high economic efficiency.

According to Department of Agriculture and Rural Development, in 2017, the province cultivated and  exploited 22.250 ha with the total output of  over 8.600 tons, an increase of over 2,000 tons compared to 2015. The value of products per hectare was 120.5 million VND, increased 13.69 million compared to 2015.

Promoting achievements, in the coming time, the agricultural sector continues to implement the project to develop fisheries support.
