Cinnamon in Yen Bai province is well-known in the whole country because of its unique quality due to geographical conditions. The quality of cinnamon in Van Yen district (in Yen Bai province) is clearly different from other types of cinnamon planted in other regions through quality criteria and high oil content. Because of these characteristics, in recent years, cinnamon tree has changed the face of Van Yen district. Every year, the revenue from cinnamon also brings tens tens of billions VND for Van Yen district, and creates jobs for thousands workers. Yen Bai has many products from cinnamon as: Cinnamon essential oil products are extracted by modern technology from branches, tops, cinnamon leaves. Especially, famous products from cinnamon bark are widely used in the pharmaceutical industry, food processing industry, aromatherapy and animal husbandry.
Recognizing the great value of cinnamon, Yen Bai province has issued many policies to encourage people to cultivate cinnamon; These appropriate mechanisms and policies has encouraged enterprises and companies to invest in building processing factories and selling products for cinnamon growers in their localities. In addition, in order to improve the position of cinnamon, the province has established right of Van Yen geographic indication for cinnamon products. This has made cinnamon main plant. Tea is also the famous plant of Yen Bai, with its strength in soil and climate, the province has developed tea areas with an area of over 10 thousand hectares which makes Yen Bai the third largest province growing tea in the country. Tea trees are grown in all districts, towns and cities, which are the key tree for agricultural production in the province. Making use of the strengths, Yen Bai has issued many policies and investments to develop the tea industry. Since then, the products from tea plants are also diverse, attractive to meet the tastes of consumers. Currently, there are nearly 100 production units, companies and cooperatives engaged in tea production, trading and processing, with a total output of 80,000 tons / year.
Along with cinnamon, tea tree, recent years, Van Chan district has also been known for its orange, tangerine which are very tasty and nutritious products in the town of Tran Phu Farm, Nghia Tam, Minh An and Thuong Bang La communes. These products of Van Chan district have high value and stable consumption so orange is considered one of the main crops that bring good income to many families.
Along with promoting domestic consumption, recently, the industry and trade sector of Yen Bai province also has many activities to promote the export of local agricultural products. In 2017, Yen Bai has supported enterprises to take advantage of 8 leading international fairs and exhibitions, 10 fairs in the country. Besides, there have been 17 trade fairs in the province and dozens of conferences and seminars to introduce and advertise local specialties. These activities have created favorable conditions for enterprises to connect with domestic and foreign customers, expand the market of products, promote production, business development, create jobs, increase income for workers.
