Overview of the workshop.

Mr. Do Thang Hai - Deputy Minister of Industry and Trade, Phan Van Hung - Deputy Minister, Vice Chairman of the National Committee for Ethnic Minorities; leaders of the Northwestern provinces; The Ministry of Industry and Trade together with experts, managers, enterprises ... attended the workshop.

Remarking at the workshop Mr. Do Duc Duy – Chairman of Yen Bai Provincial People Committee stressed that: “Each procince in the Northwestern region has own potential and strength. However, because of having no link, these provinces have not created value-added chain, espcially key products such tea, fruit trees, rice, medical trees, timber and many argricultural –forestry products. The lack of regional link leads to limitation of creating material region, attracting investors, implementing large scale projects with modern technology, especially reseaching, forecasting trend - demand of market and difficulties in in stable consumption of output. Therefore, the conference aims to solve one of the common challenges of Yen Bai and other localities in the Northwest region to build regional links, attract investment to develop commodity production, promote socio-economic development fast and sustainable”.

At the workshop, localities and enterprises in the Northwest region discussed about the potential, strengths and current status of local production and commodity development.; difficulties and challenges in producing, processing and consuming goods. Delegates from other provinces also proposed measures to promote the development of commodity economy and strengthen linkages between localities. Managers and economic experts also provided information on border trade policies and policies to support the consumption of goods in border provinces and the Northern provinces and opportunities and challenges in attracting investment, creating regional links to promote the production of goods, trade, services and tourism ...

Workshop on developing on producing goods, creating regional links and attracting investment into Northwest region is the important forum for North-west provinces introducing potentials strengths and, proposing measurements to solve difficulties in developing commodity production, creating regional links, contributing to promote overall potentials and strength of the north – west region – the areas with important geo-political and economic position of the country.
