Yen Binh is a gateway district in the east of Yen Bai province, a rich land associated with the legend of Thac Ba, Thac Ong and memories of Ngoc market, Nga market. Yen Binh is also formed by a large lake with over 1,300 large and small islands. People here have preserved a kind of Pomelo known as Dai Minh pomelo originating about 300 years ago. Grapefruit is taken care of from the water source originated from legendary Mo Co well that made grapefruit taste unique. Dai Minh pomelos were recognized the brand in November in 2016 by the Ministry of Intellectual Property Ministry Science and Technology. Currently the total area of ​​pomelos of the district is over 800ha, mainly concentrated in Dai Minh and Han Da with over 450ha, the rest are scattered in the other communes in the district. The annual output of pomelos is over 11,000 tons, bringing about VND 50 billion to local people.

Speaking at the opening ceremony, Mr. Nguyen Van Trong - Chairman of People's Committee of Yen Binh District - Head of Festival Organizing Committee emphasized: Festival of Dai Minh pomelos and boat race on Thac Ba lake is one of a series of activities in the Tourism Year of Yen Bai province, in response to the 2017 National Tourism Year - Lao Cai - Northwest.
