On June 26th, Yen Bai Provincial People’s Committee worked with the delegation of Vietnam Maccadamia Association about coorperation programme on developing maccadamia in Yen Bai.
The overview of working session.
According to Yen Bai Deparment of Rural Agriculture, Yen Bai has 56,66 ha of maccadamia, in which, 5ha is planted with tea. In Yen Bai, maccadamia is 1-4 years old so the productivity is not high.
Yen Bai province has implemented the Project: “Growing macadamia tree in the western districts of Yen Bai province" to evaluate the growth and development ability of some macadamia species in 3 districts of Van Chan, Tram Tau and Mu Cang Chai with an area of 12 ha.
At the working session, Mr.Nguyen Lan Hung – Vice Chairman of Vietnam Maccadamia Association introduced the root and economic value of macadamia tree.
Yen Bai province has good conditions on climate, soil for planting maccadamia tree specially in Van Yen, TramTau, Mu Cang Chai district. Therefore, Vietnam Maccadamia Association wanted to develop maccadamia tree in Yen Bai to develop economy, raise income for people. The Assciation complemented to support seedlings and buy all products for the planters.
Having speech at the working session, Mr. Nguyen The Phuoc – Standing Vice Chairman of Yen Bai PPC, agreed with the view of growing Macadamia trees in Yen Bai province by selecting suitable varieties which ensures to bring efficiency and quality and develops stably.
The Standing Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee suggested that in the coming time, the Vietnam Macadamia Association would continue to coordinate in supporting the development of macadamia trees in Yen Bai province; coordinate with departments, branches and localities to survey and determine the location, scale and planting area suitable to the ecological requirements of macadamia trees. Continue to support planting techniques, pay attention to planting models in Tran Yen, Luc Yen, Van Chan and Van Yen districts; introduce companies and enterprises to invest in building value chain models in developing macadamia trees in the province; choose macadamia strains suitable for each climatic sub-region of the province…
Yen Bai province is committed to accompanying and creating all conditions for the Macadamia Association to test, survey and develop macadamia trees in the province.
